All praise is due to Allāh, Lord of the Worlds, and may the Blessings and Peace be upon the most noble of Messengers, Sayyidunā Muhammad, صلى الله عليه و سلم, and upon his family and companions in entirety.

To proceed:

Allāh Ta’ālā said:

مَا أَصَابَ مِن مُّصِيبَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَمَن يُؤْمِن بِاللَّهِ يَهْدِ قَلْبَهُ وَاللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
No calamity befalls, but with the Leave (i.e. Qadar) of Allāh, and whosoever believes in Allāh, He guides his heart, and Allāh is the All-Knower of everything. [1]

And He Said:

No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfūth), before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allāh. [2]

And He Said:

وَمَا أَصَابَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُو عَن كَثِيرٍ
And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much. [3]

And He Said,

الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالُواْ إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
Those who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allāh we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.” [4]

I had entered into one of the houses of Allāh and in my possession was the third volume of the book Zād Al-Ma’ād, and in the beginning of the book there were the words of Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allāh have Mercy upon him, on tribulations. And at that hour, I stopped to think about the path of Jihād and the hardship it contains, so here are some things I wrote about the issue of imprisonment, which is considered one of the severest tribulations for the Mujāhid:

Introduction:

Know, my beloved brother, that the path of Jihād is not paved with roses, rather it is a path that is paved with severed limbs and blood, and it is full of fear and danger. And from the dangers of this path is that a person might become imprisoned at the hands of the enemies of Allāh, and this is enough of a hardship. There passed through my head some of the dangers, and I liked to put them down in writing on this page, perhaps Allāh will benefit [others] by it.

The First Message:

Indeed Allāh, Subhānahu Wa Ta’ālā, did not Decree for a slave anything except what is good, so it is upon the believer to have patience with the Judgment of Allāh and His Decree, and that if good times befall him, he thanks [Allāh], and if hardship befalls him, he is patient.

The Second Message:

Know that the prison cell, which can be more or less a meter by a meter in length and width from the inside, and in which you are afflicted with fear and fatigue and pain, know that it is not equal to anything from the darkness of the grave and the [fear and pain] of the questioning by the two Angels.

The Third Message:

Patience is the key to relief, and the path to victory and establishment in the Dunyā, and the path to happiness in the Ākhirah. Allāh Ta’ālā Said:

وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ
And We made from among them (Children of Israel), leaders, giving guidance under Our Command, when they were patient and used to believe with certainty in Our Āyāt [5]

And remember that after hardship Allāh will bring ease.

The Fourth Message:

Know that you will not gain establishment (i.e. authority and power) until you are tested. Ash-Shāfi’ī, may Allāh have Mercy upon him, was asked, “Which is better for a man, that he is granted authority or that he is tested?” He said, “He will not gain authority unless he is tested, and Allāh tested the Messengers of Strong Will (Nūh, Ibrāhīm, Mūsā, ‘Īsā, and Muhammad, عليهم السلام), so when they were patient, He established them. So let no one think that he will under any circumstances be free of suffering. But rather, the people of suffering vary in their intellects. Those with the most intellect sell a great, continuous pain for an easy, temporary pain, and the most wretched of them are those who sell the easy, temporary pain for the great, continuous pain.” [6]

The Fifth Message:

Make this message a rule for you in your life. Ibn Al-Qayyim says, “The soul is committed to the love of this world.

Allāh Ta’ālā Said:

كَلاَّ بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ العَاجِلَةَ وَتَذَرُونَ الآخِرَةَ
Nay, but [you men] love the present life of this world, And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. [7]

And He Said:

إِنَّ هَؤُلاءِ يُحِبُّونَ العَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَاءَهُمْ يَوْماً ثَقِيلا
Verily! These (disbelievers) love the present life of this world, and put behind them a heavy Day. [8]

And this afflicts everyone, for the human is urban by nature, and he must live with people. And people have desires and conceptions. So they will ask him to agree with them about them, so if he does not agree with them, they will harm him and torture him. And if he agrees with them, harm and torture will befall him, sometimes from them, and sometimes from others. Like one who has religion and piety who settles among oppressive, immoral people, they will not be capable [of carrying out] their evil and their oppression except with his agreement with them, or his silence towards them. So if he agrees with them or is silent towards them, he is safe from their evil in the beginning, then they will overpower him with humiliation and harm, multiples of what he feared in the beginning if he opposes them or renounces them. And if he is unharmed by them, then he must be humiliated and tortured at the hands of someone else. So [be completely] resolute in acting with what ‘Ā’ishah, the Mother of the Believers, said to Mu’āwiyah, may Allāh be pleased with him: [9] ‘Whoever pleases Allāh [at the expense of] the displeasure of the people, Allāh will suffice him from needing the people. And whoever pleases the people [at the expense] the displeasure of Allāh, they will avail him nothing with Allāh.’” [10]

The Sixth Message:

If you stay steadfast upon the truth and remain patient during trials, the pain will disappear, and the fatigue will go, and there will remain for you the reward In Shā’ Allāh. Ibn Al-Qayyim says, “And because there is no escape from the pain in full, Allāh Subhānahu comforts whoever chooses the easy, temporary pain over the great, continuous pain with His Statement:

مَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو لِقَاءَ اللهِ فَإِنَّ أَجَلَ اللهِ لَآتٍ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Whoever hopes for the Meeting with Allāh, then Allāh’s Term is surely coming. and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. [11]

So He made an ending for the period of suffering, and this ending must come, and it is the Day of His meeting, where the slave will then savor the greatest delight over the pain he endured for His Sake and for His pleasure, and his delight and happiness and jubilation will be in accordance with the suffering he endured for Allāh. And He affirmed this consolation and diversion with the hope of His meeting, so that the slave would carry his longing for the meeting with his Lord and Protector over bearing the hardship of the brief pain. Rather, perhaps the longing for His meeting prevents [the slave] from witnessing the pain or feeling it [12]. And because of this, the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم asked His Lord for the longing for His meeting, so he said in the supplication that Ahmad and Ibn Hibbān narrated, “Allāhumma, I ask you by you knowledge of the unseen, and your Power over the creation, cause me to live so long life is better for me, and cause me to die if death is better for me, and I ask You [to grant me] the fear of you in private and in the public, and I ask You for the word of Truth during [times of] anger and during [times of] contentment, and I ask You for moderation during poverty and wealth, and I ask you for comfort that does not cease, and I ask You for a delight of the eyes that does not end, and I ask You for pleasure after [Your] Decree, and I ask You for a good life after death, and I ask You for the delight of gazing upon Your Face, and I ask you for the longing for Your meeting, without any harmful tribulation or misleading trial. Allāhumma, adorn us with the adornment of Faith, and make us guides who are upon [the correct] guidance.” [13]

• ibn • al-qayyim • on • dealing • with • calamities •

May 6, 2008

Ibn al-Qayyim in his valuable book Zaad al-Ma’aad (4/189-195),has mentioned several things in how to deal with calamities, including the following:

1 – If he looks at what has befallen him, he will find that what his Lord has left for him is similar to it or better than it, and if he is patient and accepts it, He has stored up for him something that is many times greater than what he has lost through this calamity, and if He willed He could have made the calamity even greater.

2
– The fire of calamity can be extinguished by thinking of those who have been hit even harder. Let him look to his right, does he see anything but calamity? Then let him look to his left, does he see anything but loss? If he were to look at the people around him, he would not see anything but people who are tested, either by missing out on something that they like, or by having happen to them that which they dislike. The pains of this world are like dreams or like a passing shadow. If you laugh a little you will weep a lot, and if you are happy for a day you will be miserable for a lifetime, and if you have what you want for a little while, you will be deprived for a long time. There is no day of happiness but it is followed by a day of pain.

Ibn Mas’ood
(may Allaah be pleased with him) said: For every moment of joy there is a moment of sorrow, and no house is filled with joy but it will be filled with sorrow.

And Ibn Sireen said: There is never any laughter but there comes weeping after it.

3 – It should be noted that panicking will not make the calamity go away, and in fact it makes it worse.

4
– It should be noted that missing out on the reward for patience and surrender, which is mercy and guidance that Allaah has granted as the reward for patience and turning to Him (by saying Inna Lillaahi wa inna ilayhi raaji’oon (Verily to Allah we belong and unto Him is our return)), is worse than the calamity itself.

5 – It should be noted that panicking makes one’s enemy rejoice and makes one’s friend feel sad; it makes Allaah angry and makes the shaytaan happy; it destroys reward and weakens resolve. If he is patient, seeks reward, strives to please Allaah, to make his friend happy and to make his enemy sad, and seeks to relieve his brothers of their burdens and to console them before they console him, this is steadfastness and a sign of perfection – not slapping one’s cheeks, rending one’s garment, wishing for death and being discontent with the divine decree.

6 – It should be noted that what comes after being patient and seeking reward is pleasure and joy that is many times greater than what he could have got from keeping what he lost. Sufficient for him is the “house of praise” that will be built for him in Paradise as a reward for his praising his Lord and turning to Him (by saying Inna Lillaahi wa inna ilayhi raaji’oon (Verily to Allah we belong and unto Him is our return)). So let him decide which of the two calamities is greater: a calamity in this world, or the calamity of missing out on the house of praise in eternal Paradise.

In al-Tirmidhiit is narrated in a marfoo’ report: “On the Day of Resurrection people will wish that their skins had been cut with scissors in this world, when they see the reward of those who were struck with calamity.”

One of the salaf
said: Were it not for the calamities of this world, we would come empty-handed on the Day of Resurrection.

7
– It should be noted that the One Who is testing him is the Most Wise and the Most Merciful, and that He – may He be glorified – did not send this calamity in order to destroy him or cause him pain or finish him off, rather He is checking on him, testing his patience, acceptance and faith; it is so that He may hear his du’aa’ and supplication, so that He may see him standing before Him, seeking protection, filled with humility and complaining to Him.

8 – It should be noted that were it not for the trials and tribulations of this world, a person could develop arrogance, self-admiration, a pharaonic attitude and hardheartedness which would lead to his doom in this world and in the Hereafter. It is a sign of the mercy of the Most Merciful that He checks on him from time to time with the remedy of calamity so as to protect him from these diseases, to keep his submission and servitude sound, and to eliminate all bad elements that may lead to his doom. Glory be to the One Who shows mercy by means of testing, and tests by means of blessing, as it is said:

Allaah may bless us with calamities even if that is hard, and Allaah may test some people with blessings.

9 – It should be noted that the bitterness of this world is the essence of sweetness in the Hereafter, as Allaah will turn the former into the latter. Similarly the sweetness of this world is the essence of bitterness in the Hereafter. It is better to move from temporary bitterness to eternal sweetness than the other way round. If this is still not clear to you, then think of what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Paradise is surrounded with difficulties, and Hell is surrounded with desires.”

may Allah reunite abu zubayr with umm zubayr and little abu jandal

aameen!

It was our Lord who caused the magicians to fall in prostration.
And it is He we must approach to release our frustration,
Through salat, Dua, Sabr, and Thabat
But InshaAllah you will be capable of that.
From pharaoh, to Aad and Thamud as well,
they’ll all come together on a day to tell,
how their evil plots and plans to divert the track,
of a believing people had in it an enormous CRACK!
It was Allah (swt) who caused their wickedness a loss,
Because by His Most Perfect qualities He is the BOSS!!
So strong and Mighty but little do conceive.
But Wallahi their souls He will retrieve.
It is they who willingly chose to transgress,
Diverting from tawheed to shirk which is much less
Gathered on their faces towards the burning fire
A recompense for one who could not control his desire
Accompanying Iblis, zaqqum and enternal torture
What plans wouyld thet draw for a humiliating future
By Allah it is but a just Reward
For someone who from true guidance is deterred
The Day when mother will run her child
And the scene is horrific, devastating and Wild
There will be no where to run and no where to hide
It was you who chose to reject the infallible guide(s.a.ws)
A noble Messenger Divinely inspired
But you abstained and did what you desired
So JAHNAM is your final eternal abode
Do you recall the arrogant steps you strode??
But to a believing man, women and child
That Day will feel so wonderfully mild
Happiness will cleanse away a life of sorrow
Wallahi I wish it could come tomorrow!!!
O’Allah grant us through Your Mercy a Paradise High
But for that a believers eyes must cry
Tears of anticipation pleasure and fear
And don’t ever lose sight that that day is near
Rivers of wine, milk, and honey
And fruits in abundance which doesn’t require money
A just reward from a Lord so kind
Far out weighing a miserable world you left behind
A day when the righteous would feel so respected
And the Thalim is the one who is justly rejected!!
Allah’s mercy is what will guarantee you a place
But first for Allah’s Pleasure you must race
Accumulating deeds to elevate your position
All in preparedness of a final rendition
O’Allah grant me a paradise so high
To attain Al firdaws I will continuously try!
By your Graciousness grant me an intercession
Family members whom You have compassion
And unite me again with a wife so kind
O’Allah PLEASE don’t leave her behind
My lord knower of whats in my heart
You know what I felt for her from the start
And through Your help it elevated degrees
O’Allah Let that be our Decree
Let her be the Queen of the righteous rest
Wallahi I know I’ll feel for her the best
O’Allah, gift us therein with rivers that flow
And Ultimately Your Face with Glow
My lord what can I ask for more?!
For Janat Al firdaws I will remain at your door
Asking and pleading and trying my best
O’Allah please aid me to past the test
I ask You as well to have mercy on a son
To protect and preserve along with his mum
Grant him with us a Paradise so high
Through continual life where he does not die
I ask You my Lord Exalted in might
To purify his heart in a world full of spite
To make your pleasure his Ultimate goal
Then gift him with birds that fly with his soul
O’Allah, Grant him a life full with Worship and Devotion
And make the striving of Your mercy control his emotions
Gift him the memorization of your bookwith insight
And make It reside in his heart during day and night
The love of you is what we require
Which must overide every kind of lustful desire
Robbi Instill into my wife an abundance of patience
Whilst You deal with the opressors with your vigorous Vengeance
Destroy All their evil plans with Your perpetual Power
And rid them of their lives until the coming of the Hour
Your punishment is mighty, Truthful and Just
As the exclusiveness of your worship is an absolute must
To verify in Lordship, Worship, Qualities and Names
Is an obligatory order and not just a game
To whoever complies there is a magnificent reward
From Allah All Mighty our Most Gracious Lord
Rivers and fruits and gardens of delight
And for that one can ask Allah during the last third of the night
Devoutly, sincerely and all on your own
Ask The Most High Who Rose above His throne
During that hour He accepts your repentance
And in return He will shower his forgiveness
Or ask Him for favors and to that He is able
Once granted your wishes your situation will become stable
He removes the pain and enlightens with pleasure
Wallahi dua is an absolute treasure
O’Allah unite us with our families in paradise of happiness
Accompanying Messangers(saw), Prophets, companions and righteous
Allahuma Irhamna wa Igfirlana
Wa aafina Allhuma irzuqna janatuka……..

January 23, 2008

From behind bars, by a brother who wishes to remain anonymous.

الحمد لله العلي المتعال ذي القدرة و الجلال و الصلاة و السلام علي النبي الضحوك القتال

From the humble slave of Allaah, to my beloved brothers and sisters,

I praise Allaah for he is worthy of praise for all the bounties He has bestowed upon this sinful slave. He who has chosen me with guidance amongst the ways of the misguided, in which, I was drowning. He who bestowed upon me knowledge with His Mercy alone and not due to any of my actions and guided me to the blessed path of Jihaad. So for Him, Allaah, my Rabb be all the praise.

Having now being tested with what already you all are aware of, I have to say as my salaaf said, from them Ibn Taymiyyah (RH),

“What can my enemies do to me?
If they imprison me,
then it is my place of worship,
If they send me to another land,
It is my place to call to Allaah
If they kill me,
Then I shall be a martyr”

I add,
If they beat me,
then it is either an evaluation of status or forgiveness of sins
If they curse me,
Angels will reply as long as I am patient
If they hold me,
then I shall get the reward of a Mujahid and a Muhaajir,
as their clutches are only what holds me from it (InshaAllaah) ”

O lights in the darkness of ignorance, I am now being tested for the words I have uttered and said, thus jail is more beloved to me than to leave what I know from the knowledge, may Allaah give me patience upon the truth and firmness. And by Allaah the words of truth lay lifeless until its companion gives life to it, with his blood tears and life…

The solitude and darkness of these cells teaches many things, gives us time to think over the dark days in which I was drowned in many sins, teaches us to ponder about many things in which we were neglectful. And all these are from Allaah alone.

If you ask me about my status, then I shall say , I am in so much bounties of Allaah that, were you to become aware of it, it might raise jealousy. But from us are those who are tested more than me, thus beaten severely till they fainted, or their hairs plucked until they bled, and their heads beaten on walls. All this are done by the dogs of taughut while his scholars are giving him (taughut) full support “to fight extremism.” But as I write this, none is facing any torture and all the tortures have stopped !

Fear occurs when one thinks he might lose his beloved to him, from his freedom to his wives and kids and wealth and health and life, so the one who has already sacrificed it for His Rabb has nothing to fear, as he has nothing to loose, as he is certain that what he sacrificed for Allaah will surely be returned to him in much great quantity and a higher quality. As for his life?, to live for eternity. As for his wealth? to what which neither grieves him nor perishes, with a quality which cannot even be dreamed of… As for his wife? Then likes of husband the hoor-ul-‘ains, of their beauty one cannot match, – as for their children? Then with them forever in paradise.

As for his health? then to where neither they get sick no face any pain. So in short, he does not sacrifice anything accept he is given better. But all the loss and sadness is upon the wretched who holds to what grieves him and what shall perish or grow old forgetting and leaving what is for eternity and what I described above. So if this certainty takes root in his heart, then they shall not fear and shall endure patience upon what they face.

What has the one who is certain that Allaah is with fear? For Allaah made a hot burning great fire to be something cool and harmless, He saved Yunus (AS) from the belly of a whale, He opened the sea and cut it into half and paved the way for Musa (AS). So if one is tested, he must get close to Allaah, thus when the time comes he will surely be saved.

Of the greatest examples I saw in the Qur’aan, the magicians of pharaoh, , what faith! The biggest tyrant, the one with many lands and armies, the one with the support of the public, warning to torture them, to cut their limbs to crucify them… But what was their answer? So firm, so straight with so much certainty, so certain that this tyrant is weaker than a fly in front of Allaah, so they said “Judge, what you are to judge!” ! Its true meaning and its sensitivity is only truly understood when one is in the cross lines of losing his beloved ones and freedom, between bowing to a taughut… And Allaah only saves.

I have to say, dear beloved brothers and sisters, though I want to name the closest of you to my heart, I leave as to include you all, know that you are not forgotten in my prayers. I never met, yet closer to me than my kin, you are my family. Although short a time I may have spent with you, you are not forgotten and I hope Allaah will gather us in a place much better.

Though I am under trial, I am upon the beliefs which I left you, and although I am disliked by many for my harshness towards the governmental scholars or scholars of the taughut I have only increased in certainty about graveness of their mistakes. I seek Allaah’s pleasure in only what I believe, for were it for another cause, there are much easier ways. I believe what I believe based on proofs and interpretation of the salaaf of those proofs.

So if I am wrong I hope Allaah will forgive me. Sometime I despair and my heart gets uncomfortable due to the fewness of those who are upon what I am, and I fear I might be seized in the Day of Judgment, and then I remember the proofs and I hope to say to Allaah “O Allaah! This is why this slave of your believed what he believed” and show why I did believe (though Allaah knows everything).

So yes again and again I repeat beware of the scholars of the taughut, make people aware of them, none has damaged the religion as they did. Even here all the trials and torture we face are justified by them and they (police) are made to think that they are upon a good Jihaad upon which they will be rewarded; they are made to think they will enter paradise, while they are fighting against Islaam!

I ask you, fear Allaah! Are we to praise and respect those who the direct ones responsible for this result? They are nothing but from the army of the taughut. Lots of confusion will depart were you to judge them with your religion and were you to know “not everyone we judge upon to be kufr is necessarily a kaffir in the hereafter, but rather might be excused of an excuse we are unaware of. But that does not prevent us from ruling upon him what he shows apparently, this after the necessary measures which are available in the fundamentals of takfeer.

Everyone imprisoned or put to trial must understand that only what is “written” upon him will reach him. After every difficulty there is an ease. There are but few days in this world. And Allaah is with righteous, pious and patient slave. So do not despair upon the trials of the world as there is eternity to it Hope for the Mercy of Allaah while being patient and pious, Allaah will not waste the reward of those who do good.

Beloved brethren, fear Allaah and know that this religion will not rise but after sacrifices, the earth will not get better until it is given the blood of the martyrs, do not be deceived by the increase of those who run towards destruction and do not be sad due to the fewness of those upon truth, as the religion will become strange as it started, but hold fast upon the clear proofs which will testify your innocence on the Day of Judgment. I am but to you a sincere advisor.

Shed no tears for us, but strive to save the likes of us. Having read the letter of Fatimah, my trials are nothing compared to her. By Allaah her letter never left my pocket since I read it except for once and her cry yet haunts me… Brothers! Run to help the likes of her! And let not the false hopes and false plans prevent you. By Allaah, we cannot be saved but after giving our blood for it.

We have read and learnt and heard a lot, and it is already late; we need action, to stand with what Allaah commands without fear or any compromise. For “were we to stand as the Sahabah did, we would indeed be victorious as they were.” The road is paved with what the body dislikes. So be firm and patient.

At the end we say “If you ask us, then we care not about the tyrants and now do we bow to them. Jail us! Chain us! Torture us and kill us! Our limbs that you cut, our bones that you crush, our flesh in which you thrusts, our blood that you shed are already given to its Creator. But you can never reach our souls Insha’Allaah and how much you crush the material body and bury it, the spirit will stand high and cannot be crushed .
O Allaah! Pour patience upon us, keep us firm, and forgive our sins and give us victory upon the kuffar and be sufficient f or us against them with what you wish!

By Shaykh Abu Qatādah Al-Filastīnī

May Allāh hasten his release

Is prison a necessary stage for the Dā’ī (the caller to Allāh)? Is it a praised rank, whereby the one that is included in it is better than the one who isn’t because of having entered this stage?

From what there is no doubt about is that the path of Da’wah is filled with dangers and hardships. Allāh, Ta’ālā, said:

أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُون َوَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ

Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: “We believe,” and will not be tested. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allāh will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allāh knows all that before putting them to test)[1]

That is because the Dā’ī comes to the people with matters that are new, and he calls them to abandon their profits and their agreements, and he is grieved over the course and the path they are upon, and this is a tremendous matter for the people because he challenges their principles and their greatest convictions. Therefore, the Dā’ī is met with vehemence and violence. And for this reason, hardships separate the ranks [of the people], and through them, the people return to their rightful positions without ambiguity or falsification. Trials make the standing of the people known, and endurance is only for one who is patient. Allāh, Ta’ālā, said:

وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ

And We made from among them (Children of Israel), leaders, giving guidance under Our Command, when they were patient and used to believe with certainty in Our Ayāt (proofs)[2]

Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allāh have Mercy upon him, said in the exegesis of this Verse, “With patience and certainty, leadership is attained.” So, patience prevents rashness, and certainty prevents despair. So the Dā’ī has two strengths that fortify him against mistakes. A strength that drives him – and it is certainty, and a strength that bides him time – and it is patience; certainty about the forthcoming promise, and patience in the trials presently occurring.

Oh you prisoners in Filasteen and Cuba! From the mujaahideen and ulemaa and duaat, secluded in the prisons of oppression and despotism, suffering pain and ache, enduring the gloating of the enemies and the anguish of loved ones… O Allah! Make their hearts firm upon Your Religion, and raise their levels in Your Paradise.

But you [prisoners] are assured that the prisoner is pleased with his imprisonment, and the captive is pleased with his captivity. And you strove against yourselves and your enemies for the sake of Allah Ta’aala, and you repressed your desires for the pleasure of Allah. And Allah says:

If You Have Lost Hope, Then We Say To You

Written by Shaykh Abū Muhammad Al-Maqdisī
(May Allāh hasten his release)

Safar 1417 H

Dear Brother, verily, we have not corrupted our thoughts
Regarding the Promise of the Deity, Mighty and Strong,

And shackles have not increased us, except in patience
And prisons have not increased us, except in certainty,

Nor have tortures against our Brethren
Nor the killing of the preachers, even if hundreds of them, increased us,

Other than raising the flag of our Īmān
And clearly manifesting the Tawhīd of Truth, of Religion,

We will water your seedling, with our Tawhīd
By the cutting of our veins, and the sacrificing of our blood,

We will lift your banner, with our Islām
By sacrificing our most important men, and a mighty patience,

So that it dominates, in defiance of the Tawāghīt
And that it rises and spreads throughout the Worlds,

Never will we bend away from the Jihād against the Tawāghīt
Nor will we ever deviate from the Trustworthy Path,

As long as the Clear Light of the Deity
Dominates the hearts of the Believers,

Never will we abandon the Truth, no matter what we face
Never will we become weak, never will we submit,

Never will we stray away from the Path of Confrontation
Never will we be harmed by the abandoning traitors,

We will continue on this path, regardless of the wounds
Regardless of the blood, regardless of the long-suffering,

We have an example in the men who have traversed
Upon the Path, walking upon it, they were loftier than the heights,

So here is Bilāl, marching to the Gardens
Never did he waver fearing the pagans,

And there is Suhayb, the Brother of the Muttaqīn
Selling his life for the profit of the Religion,

And Mus’ab, abandoning a life of comforts
Refusing to share a shadow with the luxurious,

Living to give victory to a Great Religion
Passing on as a martyr amongst the eternal,

Hundreds of thousands of the True Faithful
They fulfilled in perseverance, they marched on in certainty,

A party of them have fulfilled, and a party remains continuing
They have not altered, Nay! They remain determined and firm,

And we are in their steps continuing, marching
With the Help of the Deity, to assist a Religion,

What this Path is, is the Path of the defiant
And these are the milestones of a Mighty Religion,

Thus, one who truly yearns to enter into the Gardens
And covets to embraced by the Heavenly Virgin Maidens,

Certainly, the responsibilities of the Path…
Certainly, the payment of an expensive dowry…
