‘Abdullaah ibn Mas’ood – may Allah be pleased with him – went to visit someone who was ill, and a group of people went with him. In the house (where they were visiting) was a woman. One of the visitors, a man, started to look at the woman. ‘Abdullaah [Ibn Mas’ood] said to him, “If your eye had been gouged out it would have been better for you.”

Al-Bukhaari, Al-Adab Al-Mufrad. See Shaykh Al-Albaani’s Sahih Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 1/212.

unfortunately we do a lot of things like it’s nothing.. and if we are spared of one shortcoming there are others to take its place.. may Allah rectify us before it’s too late

Aameen!! I have thought about the “looking” and found that the “pleasure” of looking is far less than the corruption which comes due to that looking, from:

    The heart becoming dark,

The obsession of looking again and again which is a result of it,

The effects which it leaves in the subconscious mind that it commands the person to commit ill acts and corrupts the clear thinking the pure judgment,

And what is in the hereafter is greater and far worse.

So the act is not limited to “looking” but its bad aftermath is what really corrupts the soul and self.
