ibnul qayyim said about Allah’s Statement:

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worse than cattle).

[al-furqaan : 44]

“So Allah has likened most people to cattle, and joinng between the two is equating them in not accepting guidance and submitting to it. and He has made the majority [of people] even further astray than the cattle, and this is because the one who steers the beast guides it and it accepts the guidance and follows the path [he steers it to] and does not deviate from it right or left. And the majority of people are called by the Messengers who guide them to the correct path, but they do not answer their call and are not guided and do not differentiate between what harms them and what benefits them. and the beast differentiates between the plants and the paths that will harm it and what will benefit it, and will stay away from what harms it and prefer [what benefits it]. and Allah Ta’aalaa has not created the cattle with hearts that it can use to comprehend, nor tongues to speak with. but He has given that to those who are not benefited by the minds and the hearts and the tongues and the hearing and the sight that have been granted to them, so they are further astray than the animals, for whoever is not rightly guided to the correct way and the correct path while he has the evidence for it, then he is further astray and his condition is worse than the one who is not guided because he has no evidences.”
